After being tipped off by an expert, RSPCA inspectors visited the farm where they found several underweight and thin greyhounds in stable blocks. They also discovered the skeleton of a small dog that had been left there for some time. One of the dogs was struggling to get out of its kennel and was described as being in a "disgraceful condition" due to its extreme thinness and emaciation, making it difficult for the dog to even walk. During an unannounced inspection of the kennels at her farm by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB), an expert from the GBGB was disturbed by what he witnessed. Rebecca Perkins, 42, of Hunmanby Road, Burton Fleming, pleaded guilty to three offences under the Animal Welfare Act. She was subsequently jailed for 36 weeks and banned from keeping animals for life after mistreating more than 30 dogs.
